Dr. James R. Driscoll joined the Baylake staff in July 2010. Jim and his wife Katheryn come to us from Williamsburg UMC. A native of Connellsville, PA. Jim graduated from Virginia Tech in 1981 and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 1985. He received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Wesley in 1996. Jim is also a Chaplain (Colonel) in the Army National Guard and has served over 27 years with the National Guard and Army Reserve. The Driscolls have two children – Rebecca, a senior at Virginia Wesleyan College, and Michael, an entering freshman at Virginia Tech.
A Kentucky native (and Wildcat fan!), Debbie has been Baylake's Director of Contemporary Worship since 2004 and was awarded a Master of Divinity from Regent University in May 2007, with a concentration in Worship and Church Renewal. She has two grown daughters, Lara (a fantastic graphic artist) and Kelly (a phenomenal student). Debbie and her husband, Ken, share life with lots of music and far too many critters!
Carin has been at Baylake since 2001. She has two adult children, Jason (a Mechanical Engineer) & Shannon (a Nuclear Physicist), and a 10-year-old grandson, Eric Cowell. Some of Carin's many activities include teaching Voice and Acting and working with the Virginia Opera. Carin is also Baylake's Wedding Coordinator.

Ellen Cummings, a native Mississippian, has served as Director of Children's Ministries and Director of Program Ministries at Baylake. She is currently the Director of Adult Discipleship and Missions. She and her husband, Ned, a college English professor, have two children: Rebecca, editor and chief production manager for Aloha Guides, resides in Kailua, Hawaii; and Frederick, who is in the U.S. Navy, resides in Washington, D.C.

Stephanie is the proud mother of six-year-old Blake. She owns Priority Services and provides financial management assistance to seniors. Very active in many aspects of church life, Stephanie is also Baylake's treasurer. Music has been a vital part of Mary's ministry most of her life. She began ringing bells during her early teens and is still ringing at Baylake. Mary was a founding member of the Tidewater Handbell Consortium. She's been teaching children to ring for more than seventeen years and has directed Baylake's adult handbell choir for ten years. Mary shares her life with husband Jack and daughter Paige.

Ellen Clements is a certified Christian educator in the United Methodist Church. She has previously served at Community UMC in Kempsville and at the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia Resource Center. Storytelling is one of Ellen's passions. Ellen has been married to her wonderful husband, John, for 34 years. They have two adult children, Melissa and Justin, and two grandchildren, Meighan and Claire. Melissa is an elementary school teacher working in the Kindergarten Enrichment Program at Courthouse Community UMC, and Justin is a singer/songwriter, currently the band leader for the Norfolk District Young Adult Gathering. Ellen is excited about working with the children and families at Baylake UMC as we grow together in grace and share that grace in the community here and around the world.
Maggie Southerington joined the staff as Director of Youth Ministries in mid-August 2010. A 2008 graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, Maggie has a B.S. in Culture, Religion and Mission, and minors in music and youth ministry. Maggie has served with AmeriCorps in Yorktown, VA, and was employed with the local YMCA, where she served as lead staff in their before and after school program. We are proud to have Maggie at Baylake and look forward to continued growth and excellence in our youth programs under her capable leadership.
