What is United Methodist Women?

A group of women in each United Methodist

congregation organized for mission. 

 

Our Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Who are Members?

We are from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds; employed and unemployed; women with disabilities; housewives and business women; single, married, widowed, and divorced; young, middle-aged, and older women; all committed to mission.
 
What Does it Mean to be a Member?

Baylake UMW ‘s programs and activities are structured to encourage spiritual growth.

Quarterly General MeetingsCircle Groups and Mission Outreach activities focus on the needs of women, children and youth, locally, nationally and globally.
 

Organizational Structure

To support this PURPOSE, we are organized into six circles that meet during the fall, winter and spring.
 

Fay Bennett Circle meets on the second Wednesday evening of the month at 7:00 pm. (Contact Gayle Reske, 757-464-2041, for meeting location and more information.) Hearts & Hands for Him meets the second Monday morning of the month at 10:00 am at the Westminster Canterbury Chapel.  (Contact Georgenia Compton, 757-464-1217) for circle meeting location and more information.) Kathleen Ober Circle meets the second Tuesday morning at 10:00 am.  (Contact Patty Morrisette, 757-499-8303, for meeting location and more information.) Barbara Pryor Circle meets the fourth Monday at 6:30 pm.  (Contact Karen Hollerbach, 757-403-0227, for circle meeting location and more information.) LADIES IN FAITH TOGETHER (LIFT) meets third or fourth Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm at Baylake UMC. (Contact Carissa Calhoun, 757-473-3728)
